I finished my first book of 2021…The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab! Have you read this one???

I gave the book five stars!

What did I love the most about this book? It was so beautifully written. I also loved how the author described each time period and location. I felt like I was in 1700s France, or 2014 New York City.

This book spans 300 years and I enjoyed the back and forth between the main character’s story and modern times. I think it flowed well and gave us a good picture of her life up to that point and what she was going through. We really got to step into her shoes.

This book is magical realism, about a 23-year old woman, Addie LaRue, who has been alive for over 300 years. Why is she still alive after all these years? Because of a curse. This curse also made everyone who meets her forget about her as soon as they leave the room. She can’t leave a mark on history and has to figure out ways to live through all of this. This is a lot harder than you would think.

Until one day in 2014, she meets someone who actually does remember her.

This book can sometimes be a little slow, and a bit weird, but I definitely recommend The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab.
